"No," she replies, though her heart races, betraying her calm facade. "But I should be."
"You pushed me away," he presses, his fingers brushing her cheek, igniting a fire within her. "Why?"
"Because you said I looked like her," she admits, her voice trembling. "I was trying to save you from myself."
His chuckle is dark, filled with a mix of amusement and something more sinister. "You’re not her. You’re so much more... complicated."
"Complicated?" she scoffs, her eyes narrowing. "You don’t know the half of it."
He steps closer, their bodies almost touching. "Then show me. Let me in."
With a defiant glint in her eyes, she retorts, "And what if I’m the monster you fear?"
"Then I’ll embrace the darkness," he replies, his gaze unwavering. "But you have to trust me first."
As the tension thickens, she reaches for the knife in the drawer, her voice steady. "Then kill me like you did her."
"Why do you keep bringing her up?" he snaps, frustration boiling over. "You’re not her! You’re alive, and I want you here with me."
"Alive?" she echoes, a bitter laugh escaping her lips. "What if being alive is worse than death?"
In this twisted dance of desire and despair, they must confront their demons—or risk losing themselves entirely.
